Avec sa série intitulée "Modou", Philippe nous propose de
nouveaux motifs venant complémenter l'écriture cosmique
qu'il décline sur tous supports depuis plus de 15 ans.
Des mots doux, certes, mais des mots d'où ?
En réalité, ils émanent d'un peu partout.
L'artiste les trace à la carte pour les personnes de son entourage,
créant ainsi une connexion avec d'autres imaginaires.
Multilingues, polymorphes, poétiques, ils vibrent tels des suites de
notes dont l'harmonie s'accorde à notre fréquence du moment.
Il les dessine un peu comme dans le milieu du graffiti où il a débuté
dans les années 90.
Pour rappel, la pratique est d'écrire ses pseudonymes sur les murs
de façon plus ou moins lisible afin qu'ils soient reconnus et lus par
une certaine communauté. Ils peuvent aussi apparaître en caractères
cryptiques, la forme prévalant alors sur la signification bien que
l'alphabet latin soit généralement le plus décelable. Certains termes
sont polysémiques, quand d'autres, par le biais de l'homophonie,
peuvent en cacher d'autres.

Philippe joue ainsi avec les codes en générant un langage visuel
teinté d'abstraction, au fil duquel la lettre répond à l'être.
Les mythes fondateurs de l'humanité évoquent le pouvoir
du Verbe à l'origine de toute vie : la chose existerait dès lors
qu'elle est nommée.
Tirée du néant, elle passerait de la pensée issue de l'esprit
- ou de l'émotion du cœur -
à sa manifestation dans la matière. Au travers de cette recherche
tant fondamentale qu'esthétique, l'artiste s'inscrit dans le grand
mystère du Logos, qui relie tout autant qu'il divise. Son alphabet
particulier nous renvoie à nos modes de communication en
perpétuelle mutation, entre les différentes langues et dialectes
du monde, les multitudes de signes inventés au gré des époques
- hiéroglyphes, morse, dactylographie, etc. - qui s'ajoutent à ceux
de civilisations disparues demeurant pour nous inintelligibles à
ce jour.
"Modou" est une invitation à méditer sur le sens-cible :
en couleurs, la puissance de nos mots est mise en lumière pour
livrer leur essence ou garder leur secret.
Il ne tient qu'à nous de tenter de déchiffrer ces énigmes...

developing on all media for more than 15 years.

Philippe thus plays with codes by generating a visual

the power of the Word at the origin of all life: the thing would
exist as soon as it is named.
Drawn from nothingness, it woul move from the thought
emanating from the mind - or the emotion of the heart -
to its manifestation in matter.
Through this research, both fundamental and aesthetic,
the artist is part of the great mystery of the Logos, which
connects as much as it divides.
Its particular alphabet sends us back to our constantly
changing modes of communication, between the different
languages and dialects of the world, the multitudes of signs
invented according to the eras - hieroglyphs, morse, typing,
etc. - which are added to those of disappeared civilizations
remaining unintelligible to us to this day.
"Modou" is an invitation to meditate on the target sense:
in colors, the power of our words is highlighted to deliver
their essence or keep their secret.
It is up to us to try to decipher these enigmas...
